Members participate in the events of their local branches from September to May, and representatives from these branches meet each quarter as part of the CAI's central council. Other members of the central council are representatives from Irish universities, both north and south, and other volunteers who take responsibility for CAI organs such as our journal, newsletter, and website.

As the CAI is a voluntary organisation, there are always openings for anyone who would like to play an active role in keeping Classics alive and well in Ireland. Helping out at branch level, initiating a new project or taking over an old one, sticking stamps on envelopes -
